Podcast attempt Number 1

Well let's see how this goes...

Audio feed

Hmmm, this isn't as easy as it should be, so I am obviously doing something wrong. Will have to call it a day for now, as I'm going to a card party, to learn more techniques, and make more cards :) I might even load some photos to the Flickr Album...

Georgie Girl

Well, I've had fun creating my audio file, now I just have to see if I can load it...fingers crossed.

I recorded my dog, Georgie, barking. Then, I added some special effects to the barking, and finally, merged the barking with sound bytes from two different songs. I'm pleased with the finished product.

RSS Feed

I've now added a Feed from Ailsa Tilsner's Stampin News Feed.

So all I have to do is put some comments on other class members sites (look out, this could be YOU :), and add an audio feed. Now, what to do for my audio feed? Read a poem, an extract from a book, have Georgie bark and make lots of noise? The possibilities are endless. Hopefully, I might have an audio feed up and running over the weekend. Stay tuned...

Georgie

Meet Georgie the furry fiend. She is 6 years old, part Maltese Terrier, part Chihuahua, part Toy Poodle.

She always seems to be into mischief, but is good company. At the moment, she is curled up on next to me on the couch, without a care in the world.

Family History

I have been researching my family history for over 25 years ( I was still at school when I got hooked). When I first started, family history wasn't trendy, there was no internet, and you had to manually go through thousands of different records to find what you were after.

Birth Death and Marriage Indexes were on microfiche, sorted by year. If you didn't know what year a particular person was born was born, you had to wade through dozens of microfiche to find them. Even if you did know the year, you might still not find them, because it depends on how the clerk registering the event spelt the name. One of the surnames I'm researching is Elliott, but this has variously be registered as Elliot, Eliot or Eliott. Multiple this out numerous times for each of the names you're researching... you get the picture.

The earliest ancestor I have found was Petrus Beaglehole who was born about 1574 in Cornwall England. Thankfully, Beaglehole is not a common name, so it has been very easy to trace. Thank goodness I don't have any Smiths or Jones in my line :)

My earliest ancestor to arrive in Australia was Catharine Malone who arrived in 1793. I have 7 direct ancestors who were convicts. My Family History Database has over 7,500 names in it, and it's still growing...

I have a link under My Favourite Sites to my family history website for anyone who would like to have a look.

Card Making

Well, I have finally loaded some photos of cards I have made to Flickr, and linked Flickr to my Blog. I've only been making cards for about a year, so I'm still learning. I really enjoy making the cards, I just don't seem to have enough time.

Changing Focus

I originally set this up as a study blog, but let's face it, that's not very interesting.

So the focus of this blog is changing a little. As well as what I'm up to with my studies, I'll post about other things I'm up to, my card making, family history finds and my favourite topic at the moment, my 5 month old nephew Bobby (who is just gorgeous).

More to come...

I'm so bad at this...

I have every good intention about posting, but it seems I am a better procrastinater than blogger.

I'm surviving through my studies, I have passed 2 assignments, waiting for the results of a third assignment, passed an exam, and have 2 more assignments to submit and another exam to sit. If I make it to the end of June, it will be a miracle.

Work has been hectic, I'm not getting home before 7 o'clock most nights. The good news is that this state of affairs should finish next week. So, you never know, I might just post a little more regularly...
