Well, here is the latest card I have made. It was my sister-in-law's birthday yesterday. She loves hippos and purple, here is the finished product...

Alleluia

Well, I started this as a study blog, so I better update on how my studies went. I passed both units!!!!! Thank goodness. It's re-enrolment day today, and I have to decide which unit(s) to enrol in. Should I attempt 2 units again, or just 1?

I'm sort of leaning towards 2, as the quicker I get the units done, the quicker I'll be finished :) Hopefully work won't be as hectic as it has been for the last few months...

Row Row Row Your Boat

Testing testing 1 2 3...

Apparently it seems my earlier attempts were working all along. It was my stupid laptop that was the problem. How annoying is that? Let me tell you, very annoying!!! Oh well, you live and learn.

And now, the end is near...

So begins "My Way" a song made famous by Frank Sinatra.

And what, pray tell, is nearing an end, I hear you ask. This semester of study is drawing to an end, and quite possibly this blog.

I've never done a blog before. When I set this up, albeit because I had to for the unit I'm studying this semester, I thought it would be fun. And it has been, sort of. I always "meant" to write more on the blog, I just never got around to it ( or a round tuit as my Dad used to say). Whilst I would love to be able to say I will faithfully keep blogging, truth be told, I probably won't.

Originally it started as a study diary, but that didn't prove to be very interesting, so I changed it to a mixed bag of things that I am interested in. There may be the odd post from time to time, you never know. We'll see...

Baby Bobby

I am a first time aunt to Robert Alexander Gordon, otherwise known as Bobby. Bobby was born on 13th December 2008, 12 days late. You can imagine how impatient we all were by the time he arrived.

Bobby is now 6 months old, and is at that adorable gorgeous stage, where he goos and gaaas and makes adorable noises (and some not so adorable noises - if you know what I mean). Last week he gave me my first (second and third) "baby" kisses. You know the sort, where it's more slobber than kiss. But the intent was there. :)

Apparently, Bobby has two teeth through. I haven't actually seen them yet.

I only get to see Bobby once a fortnight, which just isn't enough, as my brother and sister-in-law are in Gouburn. I get back there each fortnight, and make sure I get my "Bobby fix".

I won't bore you with lots of photos of Bobby, but here is my favourite one of him.

Bonus Track

OK, for a bit of fun, I recorded myself singing. Be warned, I can't sing. I thought it would be fun to record and re-record Row Row Row Your Boat as a round. Here it is. Try not to laugh too much.

Georgie Megamix Take 5

It worked :)

To listen, just click on the heading above, you can then either listen to the file directly, or download it to your computer.

I downloaded 2 songs, Georgie Girl and How much is that Doggie in the Window. Using Audacity, I copied the sections of each song that I wanted. I combined these sound btes, and added barking provided by Georgie the Wonder Dog, which I recorded using Audacity, then used the Echo special effect to enhance the barking.

Georgie is very stubborn. The night that I recorded her, whenever I was recording, she would hardly bark, once the recording stopped, she was barking her head off (not literally :).

Anyone, enjoy Georgie Megamix, dedicated to Georgie the wonder dog.

Georgie Megamix Take 4

Let's see how this goes. I have stored my audio file at another site.

And no, it still didn't work. But I know what the problem is, so be prepared for Take 5, which WILL be successful!!! :)

Another Attempt

Well, let's see if this works.

Podcast attempt Number 2

Here goes...

Or maybe it did???

I don't think I know what I'm doing??? I can subscribe to my podcast, and download it on ITunes, I just can't listen to it through the website...

Very frustrating!!!!!

It didn't work!!

Oh well, back to the drawing board...

Podcast attempt Number 1

Well let's see how this goes...

Audio feed

Hmmm, this isn't as easy as it should be, so I am obviously doing something wrong. Will have to call it a day for now, as I'm going to a card party, to learn more techniques, and make more cards :) I might even load some photos to the Flickr Album...

Georgie Girl

Well, I've had fun creating my audio file, now I just have to see if I can load it...fingers crossed.

I recorded my dog, Georgie, barking. Then, I added some special effects to the barking, and finally, merged the barking with sound bytes from two different songs. I'm pleased with the finished product.

RSS Feed

I've now added a Feed from Ailsa Tilsner's Stampin News Feed.

So all I have to do is put some comments on other class members sites (look out, this could be YOU :), and add an audio feed. Now, what to do for my audio feed? Read a poem, an extract from a book, have Georgie bark and make lots of noise? The possibilities are endless. Hopefully, I might have an audio feed up and running over the weekend. Stay tuned...

Georgie

Meet Georgie the furry fiend. She is 6 years old, part Maltese Terrier, part Chihuahua, part Toy Poodle.

She always seems to be into mischief, but is good company. At the moment, she is curled up on next to me on the couch, without a care in the world.

Family History

I have been researching my family history for over 25 years ( I was still at school when I got hooked). When I first started, family history wasn't trendy, there was no internet, and you had to manually go through thousands of different records to find what you were after.

Birth Death and Marriage Indexes were on microfiche, sorted by year. If you didn't know what year a particular person was born was born, you had to wade through dozens of microfiche to find them. Even if you did know the year, you might still not find them, because it depends on how the clerk registering the event spelt the name. One of the surnames I'm researching is Elliott, but this has variously be registered as Elliot, Eliot or Eliott. Multiple this out numerous times for each of the names you're researching... you get the picture.

The earliest ancestor I have found was Petrus Beaglehole who was born about 1574 in Cornwall England. Thankfully, Beaglehole is not a common name, so it has been very easy to trace. Thank goodness I don't have any Smiths or Jones in my line :)

My earliest ancestor to arrive in Australia was Catharine Malone who arrived in 1793. I have 7 direct ancestors who were convicts. My Family History Database has over 7,500 names in it, and it's still growing...

I have a link under My Favourite Sites to my family history website for anyone who would like to have a look.

Card Making

Well, I have finally loaded some photos of cards I have made to Flickr, and linked Flickr to my Blog. I've only been making cards for about a year, so I'm still learning. I really enjoy making the cards, I just don't seem to have enough time.

Changing Focus

I originally set this up as a study blog, but let's face it, that's not very interesting.

So the focus of this blog is changing a little. As well as what I'm up to with my studies, I'll post about other things I'm up to, my card making, family history finds and my favourite topic at the moment, my 5 month old nephew Bobby (who is just gorgeous).

More to come...

I'm so bad at this...

I have every good intention about posting, but it seems I am a better procrastinater than blogger.

I'm surviving through my studies, I have passed 2 assignments, waiting for the results of a third assignment, passed an exam, and have 2 more assignments to submit and another exam to sit. If I make it to the end of June, it will be a miracle.

Work has been hectic, I'm not getting home before 7 o'clock most nights. The good news is that this state of affairs should finish next week. So, you never know, I might just post a little more regularly...

Not much studying happening

Well not much is happening in the study line. I'm off work for the week with the flu. I mean really, who gets the flu in April??? It's a winter illness.

Anyway, my glands are swollen, I ache all over, it hurts to swallow and my head is feeling so light it could float off at any time. The upside is that I don't feel like eating (in part due to inability to swallow properly), so I might loose some weight... You can live in hope.

The downside is that I really don't feel like studying.

Naughty Penny

Well, here it is, week 8 of CIT. Time flies when your having fun. I thought I would be better at this. How hard is it to log on and write about what's happening in your life. I guess I just have a boring life :(

I'll try to do better...

Why am I doing this

Well, here I am at the end of week 2 of my studies. For some bizarre reason, I thought I would be able to manage 3 subjects whilst working full time. Seemed like a good idea at the time.

The good news is that I have passed my first assignment, at least that's something...

Till next time,

Penny
